October is an exciting month at CSE as we wrap up the first quarter and begin the second nine weeks of the school year. Our students have been working hard, and this is an important time to reflect on their progress, celebrate their successes and identify areas where they may need additional support.
As report cards come home this month, I encourage families to talk with their children about their progress, celebrate growth and stay connected with teachers. Working together, we can help every student continue building the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
We have a busy month ahead, and I look forward to celebrating another great month of learning with our CSE families!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23
Get ready for a day of fall fun at CSE! Students may dress as a character from one of their favorite children’s books and should bring the book that inspired their costume.
Costumes must be school-appropriate, and students must wear their school uniform underneath their costume. No spooky costumes, masks or toy weapons are permitted.
Want to help? Parent volunteers are needed to help run game booths, and families may also donate prizes and festival supplies. Contact your child’s teacher to learn how you can participate and earn volunteer hours.
As we begin the second quarter, a few simple routines at home can help students stay on track and ready to learn.
Create a routine. Consistent times for homework, reading and bedtime help children build organization and time-management skills.
Make a study spot. Set aside a quiet place where your child can focus on homework and practice academic skills.
Keep talking. Ask about successes, challenges and what your child is learning at school.
Read together. Regular reading at home strengthens literacy skills and encourages a love of learning.
Limit screen time. Create healthy boundaries around recreational screen time, especially during homework and before bedtime.
Students can use i-Ready at home to continue building their skills. Your child’s teacher can provide individual login information and answer questions.
Students are learning that respect means treating others with courtesy and consideration and recognizing the value of others, even when we have differences or disagreements.
Students are exploring a new tactile, hands-on approach to learning through their STEM projects.
Students are building teamwork and collaboration through engaging exercises, activity songs and music while learning about movement, heart health and locomotor skills.
Every school day counts! Regular, on-time attendance helps students stay connected to classroom learning and build the consistency they need to succeed.
Please help your child arrive on time and attend school each day. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. are tardy and must be signed in through the Front Office. Please notify the office of absences and early pick-ups for emergencies and medical appointments.
Families must complete a new free/reduced lunch application each school year. Applications are available in English and Spanish under School Information at charterschool.com.
Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, CSE students are exploring the rich history, culture, contributions and traditions of Hispanic and Latino communities through classroom lessons and activities.
CSE provides free Morning and Aftercare programs. Morning Care begins at 7:30 a.m. and includes breakfast. Academic Enrichment includes snack, homework help and instructional support.
Students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m.
Late pickup is $25 plus $1 per minute after 6:00 p.m.
