Field Trips
Field Day is approaching on Thursday March 12! We look forward to a day filled with competitive stations and beautiful weather. If you were selected as a chaperone, please ensure that you arrive on time ready to assist Coach Mike at TY Park.
Our 5th Grade students will be taking their end of year trip soon to Kennedy Space Center. They will get to explore space history and iconic sights like the Apollo/Saturn V Center, Space Shuttle Atlantis, and the Rocket Garden.
If you would like for your student to participate, please ensure that a payment is made via PayPams or cash and you have signed and returned the field trip form.
Parents, if you are interested in volunteering for any of the upcoming field trips, please reach out to your student’s classroom teacher to see if there is space available.
Receive 10 Volunteer Hours
The Charter Schools of Excellence has immediate openings for students in all grades.
Refer a student to the school. When the student registers and attends, you receive 10 volunteer hours.
Please inform the Principal or the Office Staff if you are referring a new student.
Classroom Happenings
We are working so hard! The 4th quarter is upon us as well as state testing. We are aiming high.
Kindergarten
Students are learning about different types of matter. They have also experimented with how matter can change.
1st Grade
In science, students are learning more about living and non-living things.
2nd Grade
Second grade has been investigating forces. They have explored the effect of applying pushes and pulls on different objects, and that the greater the force applied to an object, the greater the change in motion or speed of the object. Students recognize that objects are pulled toward the ground through the force of gravity and that magnets can be used to make some things move without touching them. Physics at its finest.
3rd Grade
Third grade students are learning about Earth and Space, including the Sun, stars, and other objects in the sky. They are discovering how the Sun provides light and energy that supports life on Earth and how scientists use tools like telescopes and satellites to study space. Students also explore how natural forces such as wind and water can change Earth’s surface over time.
4th Grade
Students are learning about the different states of matter and the water cycle. Students learned that matter can be a solid, liquid, or gas. They also talked about how water can change from one state to another. Students explored melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation and how these changes are part of the water cycle.
5th Grade
Students are focusing on the human body and how the different systems work together.
Current Music Lessons
K–2nd Grade
Students will echo short rhythms and melodic patterns. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the sixteenth and the triplet music notes.
3rd–5th Grade
Students will discriminate between short and long sounds, obvious differences in high and low pitches, and loud and soft sounds. Students will become familiar with and practice the recorder while using the following music notes: whole, half, quarter, eighth note, whole rest, and the quarter rest.

Students are learning about the human body and what we need to do to stay healthy.

The Charter School of Excellence provides free Morning and Aftercare for all students. A registration form must be completed prior to enrollment.
Morning Care
Students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am for this program. Breakfast is included.
Academic Enrichment Program
A snack is provided along with homework help, educational activities, and instructional support.
Students must be picked up no later than 6:00 pm. Any student not picked up by 6:00 pm will be charged a $25 fee plus $1 per minute after that.
